The Heritage High School football season begins on Aug. 22 with a benefit game against Northside to be held at 6 p.m. at Lynchburg City Stadium.
According to the News Advance, the Heritage Pioneers are ranked fifth in the virginiapreps.com Class 3A preseason rankings. Northside is ranked second in the rankings. Both teams have a shot at the 3A state title.
Following the scrimmage against Northside, the Heritage Pioneers will open the season on Aug. 30 against Patrick Henry at home. All home and away games begin at 7 p.m.
On Sept. 13, the Pioneers will take on R.E. Lee at home. On Sept. 20, the Pioneers will play on the road at Gretna. The Pioneers return home on Sept. 27 against Amherst.
On Oct. 4, the Pioneers will face Jefferson Forest on the road. Oct. 11 is homecoming for the Pioneers as they go up against the Rustburg Red Devils.
On Oct. 18, Lynchburg City Stadium will be packed as E.C. Glass hosts the Pioneers in the Turkey Bowl Challenge. The cross-town rivalry game is an annual favorite of fans from both city high schools.
Oct. 25 will be Senior Night at the stadium as the Pioneers take on the Liberty Minutemen. The Pioneers' last two away games are Nov. 1 at Brookville and Nov. 8 at Nottoway.
