As part of the Pickering Bicentennial celebrations, the Pickering Town Centre is hosting a 2011 Heritage Day Celebration on Sunday, February 26, starting at 11:15 am.
Hosted by the Pickering Advisory Committee on Diversity, there will be performances throughout the day, from The County Town Singers, Jessica’s Footsteps Dance School, Native Canadian Centre Community Drum, Latin Music – Hispanic-Canadian Alliance of Ontario, Indo-Canadian Cultural Association of Durham, Durham Tamil Association, McGrath Highland Dancers, Devi Mandir, Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, Tamil Cultural & Academic Society of Durham, Indo-Canadian Cultural Association of Durham, Sweet Harmony, Sash Sanyall performing Indian and Reggae Music, and Zahras School of Dance.
Set up with display will be the Pickering Advisory Committee on Diversity, Pickering Public Library, Hispanic-Canadian Alliance of Ontario, Congress of Black Women of Canada – Ajax/Pickering Chapter, Pickering Ajax Italian Social Club, [YOU]nity, Durham Tamil Association, Pickering Museum Village, Indo-Canadian Cultural Association of Durham, Durham Continuing Education, Tamil Cultural and Academic Society of Durham, and Devi Mandir.
Sing, sing in Pickering: The grand finale of the [http://pickeringtowncentre.com/16th-annual-choirs-festival/ 16th Annual Choirs Festival] is happening at Pickering Town Centre next Saturday. On February 26, the food court will be alive with song, as this annual event runs from 11 am to 2 pm. The preliminary round ran February 15 to 17, midweek in the food court.
