With the politicians in D.C. poised to shut down the government again, the American people are once again being used as marks in a game of chicken that is going on between our elected officials. The threat of a shutdown over the funding of the Affordable Care Act is the latest attempt by some members on the right to stall something that has already been voted on. Now whether you agree or disagree with the Affordable Care Act, something had to done about healthcare in this country. And apparently some people actually like that way that the ACA works. People in Idaho, Kentucky, and Arkansas have been signing up left and right at county fairs, but instead of calling the plan Obama Care, those states have cleverly given them names in relation with the state that they`re in. Pretty good.
The Affordable Care Act is far from perfect, but the simple truth is that more Americans are going to benefit from the act than those who will be negatively affected. But speaking of those folks who will be adversely affected, companies that have warned their employees that their healthcare costs will go up because of the ACA should really be ashamed of themselves. For at least the last six years, companies have been making profits by trimming staffs and requiring those who do survive the cuts to do more and more tasks. The fact is, no one can work forever, except if you work on Capitol Hill. But for the rest of us, when the time comes to call it quits for whatever reason, your company healthcare will be dropped within a year and that`s when the paying really begins. So while you may not like it today, the Affordable Care Act will benefit you in the future, and if not you directly surely someone you love.
