23 fabulous felines grace the pages of this special animal rescue’s website and all of them are looking for that place - that nest of love most of us take for granted - that place called home. If your nest is empty, Animal Shelter Relief Rescue is where the kitties are!

Meet Kabuki. She’s two years old, spunky and gorgeous with a long white Angora coat that she keeps impeccably clean.

Jasmine, Jasper and Jackie and the black “J” cats. Jasmine is pretty and will nuzzle your hair, her brother Jasper is sleek and handsome with gold eyes; Jackie is cute and playful, and a lap cat.

In coats of many colors, several other unique and delightful kitties are on display for your viewing and adopting pleasure at the Animal Shelter Relief (ASR) website.

Sandi McCluney shared yesterday that “kittens are flying out the door but, as usual, the older ones take a back seat.” The “older” ones are by no means old, with some just past the kitten stage and ranging to approximately five. She also mentioned Baxter and Sylvester, two Maine Coon mixes that she described as “awesome.”

Just as their crime-fighting logo suggests, ASR comes to the rescue of cats and dogs in overflowing shelters to prevent their being euthanized for no other reason than lack of space. The non-profit, which is run entirely by volunteers, is an organized network of compassionate-minded community members who provide foster care for the rescued while they await adoption.

All pets adopted through ASR are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, micro-chipped and go to their new homes with a month of free pet insurance.

If you’ve been out and about on the weekends, you’ve probably seen these un-caped crusaders of the animals at the Cabrillo College Farmer's Market or Pet Smart. Here’s their schedule - you are encouraged to go out and give these heroes a pat on the back for their community efforts, and of course, meet the adoptable cats!

So, is your nest empty? It doesn’t have to be.
