Although the first installment of the "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" holiday specials broke all prior Honey Boo Boo viewing records, it wasn't the highest rated cable show on Sunday night. Its viewing audience was high enough, however, to surpass all prior Honey Boo Boo ratings.
According to TV By the Numbers, cable ratings released on Wednesday gave "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" its most popular offering to date. The Halloween special titled "A Very Boo Halloween" enjoyed impressive ratings with the highest number of viewers over the age of two since the show first premiered back in August 2012.
Sunday night's "Holladay" special premiere was second in the overall Sunday night cable ratings, second only to "Real Housewives of Atlanta".
However, "A Very Boo Halloween" special did take out all of its competition with its online showing, placing number one on Trendr.tv, a site that monitors viral content for popularity and buzz on the Internet. The Halloween special also placed in the top five of trending topics on Twitter on Sunday.
The "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" Halloween episode eclipsed its own highest rated premiere show of 1.6 back in August, bringing in a 2.1 in that same 18- 49 demographic on Sunday night. The increase viewership was a large improvement over its 1.3 (3 million viewers) on the night of the 2012 Republican National Convention. The special brought in almost double the viewers.
"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" Thanksgiving special is scheduled to air Sunday, Jan. 13 at 9 P.M. EST on TLC.
