Herb Mix for bread dipping oil

If you've ever had dipping oil for bread at a restaurant then you know just how scrumptious it is. Okay, maybe it's not that scrumptious to you, but this Examiner is a carbohydrate hound. Here is a great recipe to make your own Herb Mix for Dipping Oil.

This can be made as an appetizer at home for you or you can give the mix as a hostess gift.

Herb Mix for Dipping Oil

  • 1 TBSP dried minced garlic
  • 1 TBSP dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 TBSP dried oregano
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For each batch you will also need 1 tablespoon of water, 1/2 cup of olive oil, and a French baguette or other bread of your choosing. Combine the first seven ingredients and then store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

To prepare dipping oil combine 4 teaspoons of herb mix with the 1 tablespoon of water in microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 10-15 seconds to plump herbs. Drain excess water, and put on a shallow dish, mix with oil and serve with bread. Enjoy!
