Turning 50-years old might not be something that most people associate with punk rock but for those who refused to burn themselves out then even 50 is going to happen eventually.
As writer, musician, and world-traveler Henry Rollins readies for this milestone birthday, he’s celebrating by doing what he loves best – touring. And this tour will be aptly titled “50.”
Beginning with five New York shows early in February, Rollins will be celebrating his February 13 birthday in his native Washington, DC with two sold-out shows, and then moving on to the rest of the country through mid-April.
Anyone who’s ever seen one of Henry Rollins’ talking-tour shows knows the man can cover an array of topics tirelessly with barely a pause to take a breath for three or more hours. Most people in a Rollins’ audience have seen him multiple times before and are always looking forward to the next tour.
For “50” Rollins will undoubtedly reflect aloud on his life thus far.
“Hopefully, I will be able to evince some imperfect pearls of ancient wisdom to the audience, having made it this far,” said Rollins in a press release.
Rollins and his “50” show will be making four stops in Illinois. The first show is scheduled for March 26 in Chicago at the Mercury Theater. Then after a couple shows elsewhere in the Midwest, he’ll be back in Illinois on March 30 at Space in Evanston, March 31 at Otto’s in DeKalb, and April 1 at the Canopy Club in Urbana.
Also in April, be sure to tune into Nat Geo TV where Rollins will be hosting Snake Underworld.
Tickets for “50” go on sale Friday, January 28, click here for more info.
