Born Henry Lawrence Garfield, Henry Rollins is from Washington, D.C. and is very well known for his music and spoken word styles of expression. Mostly thriving within the punk rock, alternative rock and spoken word music scenes, Rollins has been very successful outside the music world as well.
His career began in 1980 with a few minor bands, but eventually he gained fame with the LA based Black Flag. A member and vocalist from 1981-1986, Henry Rollins carved out his signature stage persona and media presence. With a domineering physique and the aggression and turmoil stored inside from his early life, Rollins was a perfect fit for the punk rock movement of the Eighties!
Not only a singer/songwriter, Henry Rollins has endeavored in acting, motivational speaking, activism, publishing, authoring books and being a radio and tv DJ. He had roles in movies like "The Chase", "Bad Boys 2" and "Jackass" as well as a recurring role in the highly popular "Sons of Anarchy" series on television!
Henry Rollins has also been a very outspoken voice for LGBT rights groups, World Hunger Relief and many anti-war groups. His talents have led to many musical collaborations with Tool, Les Claypool of Primus and Tommi Iommi of Black Sabbath. A curious fact about Henry Rollins is that he produced an acoustic record for convicted murderer, Charles Manson, of which only 5 official pressings were ever made. Rollins owns 2 of those copies.
