Henry Melton arrested on charges of physical assault and public intoxication is disappointing fans of the Chicago Bears defensive tackle this week. The NFL player is being accused of refusing to leave a local bar in Dallas, Texas, and then participating in an argument that escalated into fist fighting. Most details are still hazy and being looked into by police officials and the Bears at this time, but the NY Daily provides what information is known this Monday, Dec. 23, 2013.
Having Henry Melton arrested may certainly come as a surprise to some of the roughly 300-pound defensive tackle. According to a Grapevine law enforcement officer, Melton was taken into police custody very early on Sunday from Chill Sports Bar after he reportedly became “belligerent and violent.” The Chicago Bears player had a badly cut nose but did not ask to receive any medical aid, and was freed on a $1,200 bond.
The press release shares that the 27-year-old NFL star was publicly intoxicated when he got into a serious argument with the Dallas bar’s manager. He then allegedly punched the same manager in the face, then biting him in the arm, drawing blood. Emergency medical teams confirm that he was not seriously injured, however. Several bar staff members were said to hold Melton down until police officials could make it to the scene to arrest him.
“Melton, a former Texas standout from Grapevine, is out for the season after tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament Sept. 22 during a game against Pittsburgh. Melton's agent, Jordan Woy, didn't immediately comment. Bears officials say they're seeking more information about the Henry Milton arrested incident.”
It is unknown if the Chill Sports Bar manager will be attempting to file additional charges. What are your thoughts on what happened with the Chicago Bears defensive tackle this week?
