"Greysessed" fans have made "Fifty Shades of Grey" one of the most popular books of 2012 and the upcoming film is one of the most talked about productions, with casting the hottest topic. So how will the "Fifty Shades" film team cast such a popular movie? The key players will give no inside details on who should fill the lead role of Christian Grey but maybe the general public has some suggestions. On Jan. 4 reports showed that Henry Cavill was named the breakout star of 2013. The hottest star in the hottest production of the year, sounds right to fans, maybe the "Fifty Shades" team will take notice.
Henry Cavill, 29, topped the list by Fandango that named the hottest stars to watch out for in 2013. The British actor will be seen this year in Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel," the superman reboot which shows the darker side of Clark Kent's journey to become a superhero. Trailers and promo shots show a muscular, clean cut Cavill and "Fifty Shades" fans have taken notice. One Examiner reader noted, "Henry is the ideal Christian Grey! Nobody else can pull off the character the way he could." The breakout star has contemplated the role of Christian Grey, telling Details Magazine in November that "it would be a very different kind of thing than 'Man of Steel.'"
Henry Cavill for Christian Grey fans have been supporting the actor for months, often referring to a Dunhill fragrance commercial as his screen test for the role. The 2008 commercial features Cavill looking suave in a relaxed suit and approaching a roof top helicopter. The fragrance company chose the actor because he is "unashamedly masculine, Henry is utterly seductive." This description could easily be used for Christian Grey, the billionaire CEO and BDSM dominate who captures the heart of an innocent college graduate in the "Fifty Shades" trilogy.
Author E L James has admitted she has some favorites for the crucial role but will not divulge any names. The film producers, Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca, have also remained tight lipped when it comes to casting. So fans will have to fantasize about their ideal Christian Grey until an official announcement is made and an actor's face is put to the character.
