1894 - A week long heat wave was underway with temperatures at or above 90° across much of the region from June 10th to June 16th. Grand Rapids hit 95° on the 13th, 96° on the 14th and 97° on the 15th.
1966 - An F2 tornado hit Wayne County and caused $3,000 in damage.
1981 - An F2 tornado touched down in the late afternoon 8.1 miles east of Crystal Falls and headed northeast lifting 1.5 miles north of Sagola. It was on the ground for 2.6 miles and was 90 yards wide at one point and did $5000 worth of property damage as it moved across eastern Iron and western Dickinson Counties.
1988 - A record high temperature of 95° was set at National Weather Service office in Marquette.
1991 - A tornado injures one person and damages several homes east of Jackson.
1994 - A severe thunderstorm dropped 2 inch hail (hen egg sized) at 1230 EST in Copper Harbor. Hail damage was reported to vehicle windshields and a metal roof of a store. Winds blew down trees and power lines between Eagle River and Copper Harbor. $5000 damage was done.
2004 - A severe thunderstorm with gusts up to 75 mph blew down a 15 inch diameter tree 19 miles northeast of Rapid River in the midafternoon. A cold front passed across Upper Michigan, generating scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few of the storms in Delta County became severe in the afternoon with damaging winds and nickel-sized hail.
2012 - A decaying thunderstorm complex produced strong wake low winds over western Lake Superior in the afternoon. A ship over western Lake Superior 32 miles northwest of Ontonagon measured wake low wind gusts to 58 mph.
