Care for special needs families is available at Christian Fellowship Church located at 3425 N. Damen avenue, Chicago, IL www.churchinroscoevillage.org. This program helps families needing time-out from daily care giving and looking for fun for their entire family.
This new Respite Care program is free to families with special needs children (no church affiliation is required). The event occurs every Thursday evening 5pm - 8pm. There also are drop-off and pick-up times that are flexible, for those unable to stay for the fun.
All are welcome, special needs children as well as their siblings and family members. Every event is equipted with trained volunteers that are sensitive with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, behavioral disorders and other disabilities.
Families are encouraged to fill out a form by emailing churchinroscoevillage@gmail.com. This event is good for the whole family and all ages for special needs children and their families. Parents may stay if wanting to mingle with others, observe for the evening, or come back later (if needing a well deserved break).
There is church services set-up specially for special needs families, including those familiar with the joys and challenges of those struck with disabilities and members needing special care. It's all a matter of coming together as a group, and praying with those who understand, and coming together with families faced with special needs in the area.
