Southern California businesses have many opportunities for trading business in India. While the country can supply fabrics and other products, the emerging market and growing middle class means more companies are able to export their products and services.
Aerospace and green energy companies focused on solar and wind are able to export their technology to India. Social entrepreneurship is another area where U.S.-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs) will find needs.
But consider skateboarding. R Sampath of Quanta Consulting told me that products like Red Bull and skateboard apparel are items that can appeal to more Indian consumers.
“India has a young population where most of the people are 25 years of age or younger. The middle class is expected to grow dramatically and this opens new opportunities for western products,” he said.
The median age in India is 25.3 years old according to indexmundi.com.
