As we all know on January 12, 2010 the people of Haiti suffered a horrible natural disaster; a 7.0 earth quake (according to the richter scale) hit Haiti; some reports are stating that more than 100,000 people are feared dead with a projection of up to 200,000 passing in the near future as a direct result of the quake.
American Red Cross, Military, Civilians, and other Humanitarian Organizations have been on seen in Haiti helping where they can along side representatives from other countries around the globe. Celebrities have made out of pocket donations in the millions as have many large companies, unfortunately many of the general public cannot afford such large contributions, however many still want to help in some way.
Companies like MAC, Avon, Mineraleyez and Mary Kay have all made corporate donations in the millions, however these companies are still wanting to do more and are allowing you the consumer to have a part in this. Avon has donated a million dollars already and are currently working on donating a percent of their customers purchases to the relief efforts as well.
“I believe that it is our responsibility as a global corporate citizen to lend our support to the relief effort aiding the people of Haiti,” said Andrea Jung, Avon CEO.
Mary Kay has also reportedly made a large upfront donation to Haiti and are also donating more through the purchase of certain products purchased by consumers.
Mineralieyez cosmetics is donation 50% of all sales to Haiti and an undisclosed amount has been donated by MAC.
So through beauty we can all help make a small difference in the lives of others in need by making purchases from companies that are giving back to others in need.
