Help with depression Bible-style II, God's fatherly love (Video)

Many people need help with depression because they don't feel like anyone loves them. They may feel unlovable because of the way they have been treated by parents, siblings, relatives, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, coworkers, or fellow students. We all need respect and we all need to feel loved by someone.

Happiness in life is largely dependent on the relationships we build with family and other people. We can easily get depressed when we don't feel like anyone cares about us. Loneliness can cause a lot of emotional pain, whether we've felt abandonment or have lost family members who were very close to us.

Whatever the reason for your discouragement, you need to know the way that God feels about you. You need to understand that when nobody else seems to care, God's love is immeasurable to us.

Abandoned by parents

Have you suffered abandonment from a parent or both your parents? Let God be your Father. "Because of his love he had already decided to adopt us through Jesus Christ. He freely chose to do this." (Ephesians 1:5, GW) Christians have been adopted by the heavenly Father. We are His children.

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; – I John 3:1a, ESV

Even King David understood our Father's love before Jesus the Messiah came to earth. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he said, "Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will take care of me." (Psalms 27:10, GW). He was writing scripture that would be a lesson to all of humanity for generations to come regarding the great love of God to all who are willing to receive it.

Fatherless and widows

Children whose fathers have passed away and women who have lost husbands have a great need for help with depression. The Father's love is there for you too. It's hard for us to care when we are in emotional pain over the loss of loved ones. We may not want to "feel" anything. We may sense great loneliness and not want to replace that lost love with anything. But when we are ready, God is there.

You are the Helper of the fatherless. – Psalms 10:14b, MKJV

The God who is in his holy dwelling place is the father of the fatherless and the defender of widows. – Psalms 68:5, GW

The Lord takes care of those who are in a strange land; he gives help to the widow and to the child who has no father; – Psalms 146:9a, BBE

God's loving nature to all

Whatever your reason for emotional pain, God's love is available to you. You are special to Him. "God does not play favorites." (Romans 2:11, GW) He wants you to feel His love. He wants you to experience His love.

How precious are your thoughts concerning me, O God! How vast in number they are!
If I try to count them, there would be more of them than there are grains of sand.
– Psalms 139:17,18b, GW

If you have experienced abandonment or are feeling unlovable or loneliness, remember to pray, ask, cry out or call out to God (see article 1). He wants to share His fatherly love with you.
