It’s not going to be easy for any educator to fill Nancy Grasmick’s shoes – but Maryland is moving forward in trying to fill the vacancy left by Grasmick when she retired as our State Superintendent of Education last summer. The Maryland State Board of Education (MSDE) just released the advertisement for the next State Superintendent of Schools.
The ad, based on the leadership profile compiled with input from Board members, parents, staff, students, and the community, will be placed in various publications and circulated nationwide.
Former Superintendent Nancy S. Grasmick retired from the position on June 30, 2011, which ended a nearly 20-year tenure for her at the helm of Maryland’s public school system.
Bernard J. Sadusky, former Superintendent of the Queen Anne's County Public School System, was named Interim State Superintendent of Schools by MSDE. Dr. Sadusky took over the reins of the Maryland State Department of Education on July 1, 2011, following the retirement of Nancy S. Grasmick.
