Help the environment on Earth Day

Earth day is nearly here. It’s time to start thinking about volunteering and doing something green for your community. This year, join Green Columbus and sponsors, including The Green Funds of the Columbus Foundation this Earth Day and support Green Columbus’ 7th Annual Earth Day Celebration. Earth Day 2013: Stand Together will include hundreds of volunteer activities across the Columbus area during the weekend of April 20-21 and a citywide celebration on April 27 at the Columbus Commons.

Green Columbus was created after the success of Earth Day 2007: A Year in a Day and continues to promote sustainable living throughout Central Ohio by providing forums, raising awareness, and encouraging local action in every day life. Since its creation, Green Columbus’ Earth Day endeavors have resulted in over 40,000 hours of volunteer work. Green Columbus brings together communities, organization, businesses, and individuals for the common good of the environment in this two-part event.

Westerville area individuals can participate in Earth Day 2013: Stand together at Sharon Woods Metro Park, Sunday, April 21 at 2:00 pm. Help pull invasive plants and keep our park clean, picking up litter on and off trails and around waterways. Volunteers will be meeting at Apple Ridge Picnic Shelter in Sharon Woods. For more information and to register as a volunteer, visit http://earthdaycolumbus.org/

Help support Green Columbus’ Earth Day 2013: Stand Together, not only in Westerville, but across the Greater Columbus area and be a part of the largest volunteer service effort across the country. Help to Columbus a greener community and reduce our impact on the environment. Don’t forget, to also join in Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm with local bands, food trucks, environmental groups, green businesses, and more at a Columbus Commons to celebrate our Earth Day 2013 accomplishments.
