Help the environment as a Texas Stream Team volunteer

You can help monitor and protect natural resources in the state as a Texas Stream Team volunteer, and a training class for volunteers is scheduled in Denton on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Texas Stream Team is a network of trained volunteers that gather information about the state’s natural resources and make it available to the public. Since 1991, hundreds of Texas Stream Team volunteers have collected water quality data on lakes, rivers, streams, wetlands, bays throughout Texas.

Potential new volunteers can participate in training from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the University of North Texas EESAT building, 1704 W. Mulberry St. in Denton. You will be certified as a Stream Team member by following up with a second class to be scheduled at a later date. The Texas Stream Team is a project of Texas State University, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the U.S. EPA. The class is free, but you must pre-register.
