The Anti-Cruelty Society - Chicago

The Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago (TACS) has been participating in the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge all summer long. The Challenge is drawing to a close in the next few days as it ends on August 31st. Although TACS has been doing a superb job, they are still a ways from their goal and they need the public’s help in order to reach it and win.

To date, TACS has saved well over one thousand lives in just over two months. Their goal, however, was to place 2,100 homeless dogs and cats by August 31st. When they reach their goal, they have the opportunity to win $100,000 in grant funding from the ASPCA and Rachael Ray. They would utilize the money to update the kennels in their dog adoption room which would really help when people came in to adopt a canine.

In order to reach their goal, TACS is going all out and doing something that they have never done before: WAIVE ADOPTION FEES FOR ALL OF OUR ANIMALS that are up for adoption! This is HUGE as The Society hopes to find homes for hundreds of animals in just a few days time!

On Friday, August 22nd and Saturday, August 23rd, TACS will host their waived fee promotion. By adopting a great pet, you will be able to help the only shelter in Illinois that is competing in the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge; 50 total shelters are competing throughout the United States. Wouldn’t it be great if Illinois could be the grand winner?

It would be fantastic to be able to adopt the perfect pet during the no fee adoption time – the first time in TACS history! Normally dogs and puppies can be adopted for $95-$150 and cats and kittens between $60 and $85.

Fees ordinarily cover the cost of vet fees, updated shots, micro-chipping and the like. By waiving the fees, TACS will be eating the cost in hopes of being able to do something spectacular when they win the Challenge.

Anti-Cruelty’s mission is Building a community of caring by helping pets and educating people. This is just one method of reaching their goal. To date, TACS has hosted the following events to date:

PRIDE Week Kick off Brunch June 21
Join Chosen Model Management and Factor Women for a brunch at Public Hotel to benefit our animals in need.

PRIDE Parade June 29
Join the Society as we march in the 2014 Chicago PRIDE Parade, taking place over a 4-mile route.

Through these events, they successfully placed 1,047 animals in their forever homes. While that is amazing, they still need to practically double that number in order to win.

You can help! Besides adopting a wonderful animal, you can also vote for TACS every day starting today to help them win $25,000 from the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. All you have to do is go to and choose The Anti-Cruelty Society as your favorite shelter. Don’t hesitate, vote and adopt to help this great Illinois Shelter to win!
