Help spring clean ACCT with their Sneezin' good special (Photos)

With the warm temperatures of spring comes the influx of kittens and pregnant and nursing momma cats to ACCT. But the shelter is already full and some of the cats waiting to be adopted just need a safe place to go and shake off their winter colds. In a home environment, they will get better fast with some love, food, medicine and rest. But in the shelter, it's hard to kick what ails them and the stress level makes it nearly impossible to get healthy. These cats are in isolation (ISO) and to free up those beds for the incoming barrage of babies, ACCT is offering some incentives to help get these curable cats into homes to recover.

ACCT's "Spring Sneezin' Challenge" is running now through April 7th and the goal is to get the cats with mild colds out and empty the ISO. Cats and kittens of all ages with colds or just the sniffles are free to adopt. They come with free medication and a free bag of cat toys and treats. This is a great deal and there are cats of every size, age and personality. One is bound to perfectly fit every household. Check out just a sampling of the ISO cats in the slideshow and then head down to ACCT at 111 W. Hunting Park Avenue. Let them know you want to see the awesome free adoptables in ISO and take your pick of the litter.

Adoption hours are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. All other adoption details can be found on the ACCT website along with an adoption application. If you need help or have questions, call 267.385.3800 or email adopt@acctphilly.org for more information. Map and directions are here.

You can always volunteer to foster one of these ISO cats, or a needy litter of tiny kittens as they come in all spring long. Some will just need a safe place to nurse with their mom, some will need bottlefeeding that ACCT can't do and others will just need a warm room to hang out and get to an adoptable age. Email foster@acctphilly.org for more information or to volunteer to help. Foster hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., 7 days a week. Go to ACCT's fostering page for details and fill out an online or downloadable application. Foster homes receive the full support of the shelter and their excellent veterinary staff provides for all medical needs. Additionally, there is often food available at ACCT, free to foster homes.

So think about helping one of the these fantastic felines and head down to ACCT. And please spread the word so we can help as many as possible get to safety and a second chance at a better life.
