5 O’clock Somewhere are playing their last show on Sunday December 20th at the Echo, in Echo Park. If you haven’t seen 5 O’clock Somewhere play before, now is your last chance and you don’t want to miss it. They play honky tonk standards with an Echo Park edge and have been playing around the eastside for several years. They put on a great show and never disappoint. Sarah Gayle Meech the bands lead vocalist is leaving Los Angeles after the first of the year, getting hitched and moving to Nashville to pursue her solo career. So sadly this amazing and fun band is breaking up.

The Amazing Mandy Hoffman

The band consists of, the amazing Mandy Hoffman on bass and backing vocal. Mandy doubles as a composer for film, television, and commercials and on top of that is an Echo Park drink slinger. Once in a while you can find her sitting in with Dogwood and there are rumors that she may be starting a new band after the first of the year but its unknown how the music maven will find the time. Cross your fingers she does find the time, because you know it will be good.

The beautiful Sarah Gayle Meech on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. No one belts out a song like Sarah Gayle and you know you want to be able to say “I saw her when” because it’s a given she’s going to be a gigantic hit in Nashville. Sarah Gayle’s last solo show in LA is Sunday the 27th at the Redwood Bar And Grill brunch.

The ever-talented Mindy Gaspar on backing vocals and rhythm guitar. Mindy is also in the band StoryTimeFunland, which is aimed at, you guessed it… kids. Mindy has a residency at Stories in Echo Park every other Wednesday at 4:30. You should pack up the kiddies and check them out. Your kids will thank you for it.

The band is rounded out by Jordan Shapiro on pedal steel, Howard Yearwood on lead guitar, Cousin Roy on percussion and backing vocals and Mike Sessa on the skins.

Opening for 5 O’clock Somewhere is Paulene, a three-piece band that does country and jazz standards as well as some originals songs thrown in for good measure. Doors open at 5pm and 5 O’clock Somewhere hit the stage at 7pm. There’s a $2 buck suggested donation at the door and there are rumors of special surprise guests (what farewell show would be complete with out those?) but I cant tell you who, as it will spoil the surprise.

So grab your cowboy boots, your best girl or guy and head on down to the Echo on Sunday at 7pm, to say goodbye to Echo Parks own, 5 O’clock Somewhere.
