Help Give Kids the World Village bring Disney magic to deserving youngsters

Give Kids the World Village is a magical place located in an unassuming part of Kissimmee, just a short distance from Walt Disney World. It's a place where children with life threatening diseases can hang out for a week without feeling "different." They visit Disney and the other theme parks for a whirlwind of fun and enjoy activities right at the Give Kids the World Village, including rides, characters, swimming, and a horse-drawn wagon. Everything is fully accessible, even to those in wheelchairs, to ensure that the youngsters get the trip of a lifetime.

If you'd like a quick overview of the village, check out the video accompanying this article. It runs completely on donations, and you might be wondering how you can help. First, you can make a donation to support the resort's important work. Second, you can participate in one of these upcoming fundraisers:

40th Anniversary Ruby Tuesday promotion in partnership with the Rosen hotels. On April 22, 2014, Rosen will donate $1 per Facebook fan "like" that GKTW collects for them from midnight April 21 to midnight April 22 to GKTW.

Start off by liking the the Give Kids The World Facebook page to get reminders, and mark your calendar for the big day. You can "like" the pages for any of the following Rosen resorts to help out GKTW:

  • Rosen Shingle Creek
  • Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando
  • Rosen Plaza
  • Rosen Inn International
  • Rosen Hotels and Resorts Orlando
  • Rosen Inn Closest to Universal
  • Rosen Centre
  • Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista

O'Town Mac Down: This fun new family event is a mac and cheese cook-off to be held at the Orange County Convention Center on Saturday, August 23rd. Come out to see celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, kids' activities, and more. Proceeds go to benefit GKTW. Learn more, including a hilarious video, on the event webpage.

Whether you can come out to the cook-off, or whether it's just easier to help get Facebook "likes" from your keyboard, you can do your part to ensure that deserving youngsters and their families get a welcome respite on a dream vacation.
