Reader's Digest has come of age. It's a venerable magazine---a dinosaur when you consider how long its been in print. But even dinosaurs, if they live long enough, have a chance to get hip.
We just found out that the Digest has taken a page from such social consciousness networking sites as Justmeans (the site that awarded Vallejo Peoples Garden a grant two years ago). In November 2011 it launched the We Hear You America contest.

The proposition is uber-simple. Just enter your Vallejo zip code at the contest site and tell the Digest just why they should award Vallejo $50,000 to implement projects that will enhance our community. Critical mass wins the day - so you need to tell eveyone you know to enter too. While one city gets the biggest kahuna, ($50,000), eighteen other cities get rewards too.
