We all know how awful it would be if one of our furbabies was lost. You may have experienced it yourself, but if not you can easily imagine the terror and heartache. A military family is going through this heartache right now in the Ft. Stewart area. Brittany Piel and her family were visiting the area with their dog Finn, when he was scared by something and bolted. Despite their best efforts, they could not catch him. Now they need our help to get their baby home where he belongs. His family is in the middle of relocating to North Carolina, but his mom and furry sister have come back to the area in hopes of finding him.
The first part of Finn's life wasn't so great. He lived life on a chain, not as a member of a family, but more as a forgotten yard ornament. His collar was embedded in his neck, and he was full of parasites. His ears and paws were infected and he was scared of people since he had no socialization. But he was rescued from that awful life, and found his forever home with two loving human parents, a human sister and a furry sister to love him through it all. The pictures show you how very much Finn is loved, and how very much he is missed.
Finn is a lab mix that weighs about 80 lbs and has a small white patch on his chest. He was wearing a blue collar when he bolted from his owners and he is microchipped. Finn is scared of people that he does not know, and he spooks easily. If you spot Finn, please do not call his name or chase him. Monitor his movements if possible, and call Kirby Stewart at 912-222-8314 or Meike Wilder at 912-321-9296.
Finn has been seen twice recently, once on Aug. 4th at 8 AM outside Gate 3 on Old Sunburry Road. He was also seen on Aug. 5th at the intersection of Old Sunburry Road and 144, across from the Range Control Headquarters building heading towards the gas station.
There are two searches planned for Finn.
Tonight 08-05-14 at 6 PM EST meeting at Range HQ on the corner of Old Sunbury Rd and Hwy 144.
TOMORROW 08-06-14 at 6 AM EST meeting on the East side of Gas Station in the field Hwy 144 - Across from Ft. Stewart housing.
If you can help find Finn, please attend either meeting spot and bring as many helpers as you can. If not, please share this article and his picture so others can help get him home to his loving family. You can keep up with Finn's story on his facebook page, and keep track of search party times on his event page. Let's get Finn home!!
