These are not a bonded pair, nor did they come from the same surrender or family. Rather than re-write the story, let's just post what South Central New England Critters Association posted on their Facebook page last night:
Tonight we share this thought because....we are troubled.
It's the Christmas season and many people feel their motto should be "out with the old and in with the new." Unfortunately we witnessed this today. Two dogs discarded like old flea market junk.
One dumped and One chased away. Both, we know might have once worn a shiny new collar. But time marches on and time took its toll.
One dog... 7months old new to life with a wiggly butt , a young friendly heart, who let us tug his tail and laughed in glee. But breed discrimination says he shouldn't be placed. He might grow into a dangerous dog. The shelters are full, end his life now...if you post and rally for him ...people might dislike, your breaking the rules. . He's a PitBull.
. Time is up.
One dog now in his senior years, mistrusting of all love, medically needy with a longing in his eyes to just be. His experiences are a life of neglect and abuse. He did not care really that we were there. But, when we went walking... he looked BACK to see if we followed. You could see the five years of misery and lonesome travels had aged him far beyond his ten years. His neglect and abuse very visible and most would say not worth of ....saving.....He knows that many already believe his non existence.
And then... There's the kennel where they are staying ...way past time already spent. One woman tenderly and quietly rooting for them both. One woman passionately talking but in her words you could hear an unspoken prayer of fears and decisions that must be made. Who has the best chance and is there ? We stood silent. SCNECA was there to choose one to rally for. That's our mission. One to post, plead and beg for. One home, one bed, one day at a time. One dog to have success. And we almost faultered . So to Clark's Kennel of Northbridge Mass. and Beth....I apologize,
I introduce to you tonight. Charlie and Nakita. Both worthy of homes and love and worth sharing to the world. They both deserve a chance. (508)234-9385 They both matter.
If you can't adopt or foster or offer a home, please, please share. It only takes a second to share, and could help save one or both of these neglected creatures.
