CHARLOTTE, N.C. There are so many worthy causes and we get quite a few requests to share charitable information at the Charlotte Lunch Examiner, that we can't always help out. But hey, we might be biased but we love Sticky Fingers. Their fall off the bone ribs, their solid service, the blues music they play just loud enough but not blaring; and especially that they are a true Southern Company headquartered right in South Carolina.
Mix in the fact that we hate skin cancer; having had family members we love battle the disease, and we thought we'd share the following press relaease:
Sticky Fingers Smokehouse is hosting a day long fundraiser on Tuesday, March 29 to benefit Levine Cancer Institute.
Guests are invited to stop in any time from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at either the Ballantyne location(12410 Johnston Road) or the Concord location(8021 Concord Mills Boulevard). Fifteen percent of dine in, take out and catering sales will go to benefit cancer research. Both locations will also be accepting cash donations.
March 29 marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of Darren Collins, the former Operating Partner at the Concord location. Darren was diagnosed with stage four melanoma, a type of skin cancer. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated in his honor.
Levine Cancer Institutewas recently formed by Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) – one of the leading healthcare organizations in the Southeast – as part of an innovative vision to deliver community-based cancer care across the Carolinas, building upon its strong network of affiliated hospitals and providers.
All proceeds will go to the Institute’s Carolinas Melanoma & Immunotherapy Fund, which supports local research and education programs designed to advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of melanoma. One hundred percent of donations to the fund remain in this community.
More than 1 million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in the United States every year. Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25 to 29 years old and the second most common form of cancer for adolescents and young adults 15 to 29 years old.

Head on over to Sticky Fingers for lunch or dinner on Tuesday. Support a good cause and have some great food, too.
