City Park has reported that their resident black swan, Amanda Erika, was injured by at least one individual, and all six of her eggs that she had been nesting were broken. When she was found she was very weak and unable to walk due to serious injuries in her leg which included exposed bone. The swan is currently being treated by a local veterinarian and it is hoped that she will make a full recovery.
A $1,000 reward is being offered by City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the abuse. If anyone has information please contact City Park Police Chief, Billy Bayle, at 504-421-9307.
