Orlando based band Ancient Sun has a Kickstarter project underway to help fund their new full-length CD, “In the Fold.” The band is hoping to raise enough money to finish the new CD as well as commission album artwork and photography, press copies of the new CD, promote the new album and host a memorable release party.
The band is offering some terrific perks to contributors. Among the rewards are signed albums, handwritten thank you notes, limited edition backer shirts, immediate downloads of new songs as they are completed in the studio, a DVD of live performances and behind the scene studio footage, guest list slots, an exclusive acoustic performance and one option to have all the band members shave their entire body. There are even some chances for fans to earn music lessons and jam sessions with individual band members.
The band has already begun the recording process at TruSound Studios in Orlando. Ancient Sun’s lead singer/guitarist Rick Krasowski offered up a few insights into the new CD, “I’m looking forward to recording our new song ‘Collide.’ It’s a song I’ve been writing for about a year and it’s finally come together. The lyrics are very personal for me and on top of that the rest of the guys have made the song come to life. There will be a few new sounds on the album that you normally wouldn’t hear from us; there is a song with a standup bass, Tom our Sax player will be singing a song and you can look forward to our fifth Beatle Christian Ryan to make appearance. We are going all out on this thing and I couldn’t be happier!”
The band has released two other recordings, their self-titled debut in 2012 and their EP, “Number One Rule” released last year. The new CD will feature the band’s current line-up, Rick Krasowski (guitar/keys/vocals), Tom Shea (saxophone/flute/percussion), Brandon Miller (bass) and Jason Zane (drums), recording together for the first time.
The band has until Friday, August 1 to reach their $6,000 Kickstarter goal. “We are very excited to release our first [professionally recorded] album titled, ‘In the Fold,’ said Krasowski. “This is about the four of us coming together and making the best music we can, doing what we want and hope to be doing for the rest of our lives. Any donations you can pledge to our Kickstarter would be a huge help. We can’t do this with out you and we thank everyone for their ongoing support! Every bit counts, so let's makes this happen!”
