Huntington Beach, California pop group Hellogoodbye and Philadelphia new wave band Vacationer bring their co-headlining tour to Wooly's in Des Moines tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Hellogoodbye's 2006 single "Here (In Your Arms)" off of their debut album Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! went platinum and hit #14 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band's latest album, Everything Is Debatable, came out last October. Co-headliners Vacationer will release their second album, entitled Relief, on June 24. Opening the show will be Iowa City indie pop band The Olympics and Texas electric dream pop group Heavenly Beat. Tickets for the all ages show are $15 in advance and $17 at the door.
Kansas City rapper Tech N9ne returns to the Val Air Ballroom Thursday night for a 7:30 p.m. concert event. "The Independent Grind Tour" will also feature Freddie Gibbs, Krizz Kaliko, Jarren Benton, and Psych Ward Druggies. Tech N9ne released the fifth album in his "Collabos" series, entitled Strangeulation, in March. Tickets for the all ages event are $30 ($70 for VIP).
Connecticut roots band Bronze Radio Return will headline a show at Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines tomorrow night. The revival rock sextet released their third album Up, On & Over last year. BRR has played at numerous festivals across the U.S., played for President Obama, and has had their music used in dozens of television spots. Ohio-based rockers Hey Monea! will open the show at 9 p.m. Tickets for the 21+ show are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
Gas Lamp will host the Minneapolis punk band Banner Pilot Thursday night at 9 p.m. The band released their latest album, entitled Souvenir, on April 15. Opening the show will be Coralville pop punk trio Lipstick Homicide and the Cedar Falls punk band Strong City. Tickets for the 21-and-up show are $5 in advance and $10 the day of the show.
DG's Tap House in Ames will host Upstairs Underground 2 on Thursday night at 9 p.m. The event will showcase Iowa rap talents prettygirlhatemachine, Sisko Diq, Suquando Duke, and Aeon Grey. Admission is free to all over 21.
