The Hello Kitty jet brings iconic Sanrio characters to life. USA Today reports Sept.18 that a new Hello Kitty jet is flying from Taipei in Taiwan to mainland U.S. in Los Angeles. Taiwan's EVA Air began flying the unique jet to the U.S. this week.
A Boeing 777-300ER has the image of the animated Hello Kitty feline on its jet. EVA chairman and pilot of the jet, K.W. Chang, "initiated Hello Kitty jets to make flying fun and passengers love them."
The EVA "Hello Kitty Hand-in-Hand" liverywill be used on three of EVA's 17 scheduled weekly flights between LAX and Taipei's Taoyuan International Airport (TPE).
EVA proudly said that "Hello Kitty Hand-in-Hand jet is the first of its kind featuring a bright display of 19 Sanrio characters. They appear "hand-in hand in different shapes and sizes on both sides of the fuselage."
The jet experience "begins at airport check-in with Hello Kitty boarding passes and baggage stickers. Flight attendants on the special-livery jets wear pink aprons with Hello Kitty designs and passengers are treated to more than 100 in-flight service items including headrest covers, pillows, tissue, hand cream, liquid hand soap, napkins, paper cups, utensils, snacks and meals."
EVA flies five other Hello Kitty jets on shorter intra-Asia routes.
