Hello Kitty EVA Air made its first flight to the United States, landing at LAX on Wednesday. On Sept. 20, MSN reported that the aircraft is fully decorated inside and out with "Hello Kitty" designs -- even the boarding passes for passengers traveling on the Taiwan jet are decorated! The food has "Hello Kitty" shapes and stamps and even the bathroom's toilet paper is imprinted with the popular character.
"The Boeing 777 was piloted by EVA's chairman... who also happens to be the airline's chief mechanic. [He] is still interested in making airline travel a 'treat,'" MSN News reported.
Hello Kitty EVA Air has a purpose -- to make flying more fun. So far, three flights going from Taipei to Los Angeles (and back) will be on board the new Hello Kitty themed aircraft. There are a total of five Hello Kitty jets that are flying through various Asian countries. Passengers don't have to pay any extra fares to fly on one of these planes -- it's really just luck of the draw.
The Hello Kitty planes have been flying for a while but with the first Boeing jet arriving at LAX this week, the airline is getting international attention.
Does Hello Kitty EVA Air encourage you to fly one way or the other? Do you think more airlines should have themed planes?
