Austin's atheists, freethinkers, Humanists and Brights, lend me your.... eyes, I guess. Unless you're blind, in which case I suppose ears or fingers would be appropriate, too. Anyway...
Hello, everyone. I'm Sully and I'm your Austin Freethought Examiner. I wanted to take this moment to introduce myself and also use this opportunity to list some of the atheist and freethought meetings happening around our fair city.
If you're like me and don't have cable television, you may have missed The Atheist Experience on public access. Luckily, you can catch each weekly episode on their website and it's really a fun show to watch. Not only do they have some really interesting discussions and keep Austin Freethinkers up to date with what's going on in town, but it's also fun to watch and listen to callers call them devil worshipers and other such nonsense.
On the 3rd Tuesday of every month, there's a meeting of Austin atheists at Threadgill's, close to downtown. They're a really fun group of folks and if you're like minded, you'll probably enjoy hanging out with them, too. You can find their meetup page here.
Austin is actually has a pretty active community of freethinkers and atheists considering how neck-deep we are in Texas. That's just one of the many topics I hope to explore over the next couple of weeks. Like my other fellow Examiners, I encourage - heck, I rely on - your feedback to help make this topic as good as it can be. If I'm doing something right, something wrong or just missing the boat completely on something, I'm not going to know unless you tell me.
I hope everyone has a great ACL weekend!
