Every kitchen needs a scallion. The 2013 Pennsylvania Food and Wine Show would agree. The Show, which is produced by JM Expo, will feature 2013 Hell's Kitchen contestant Chef Jon Scallion as one of the judges this year during the two day show.
Thousands are expected to attend the Show at the Lancaster County Convention Center on 16 & 17 November. Chef Scallion will be a judge in the Chopped PA competition on 17 November. The competition will be at noon. Chef Scallion will again take the stage at 2:30 p.m. A supporter of using local, fresh ingredients, his appearance is presented by PA Preferred.
Chef Scallion, who is from nearby York, recently finished third out of 20 contestants on the hit FOX reality show, Hell’s Kitchen. There he won numerous individual challenges before falling just short of the final.
Guests will enjoy the opportunity to taste many new dishes, as well as sample and purchase wine, from the 60+ exhibitors. Workshops will be held throughout the two day event. They include (but are not limited to):
- Food & Wine Pairings
- Secrets of the Best Butchers
- Expert Culinary Techniques
- Cake Decorating
- Expert Kitchen Renovation Tips
- Serious Tailgating
Culinary enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to meet Chef Anne Burrell of the Food Network, though a separate ticket is required to attend her brunch and presentation. Those attending her brunch will receive a photo opportunity with her as well as a personalized signed copy of her soon to be released cookbook “Own Your Kitchen: Recipes to Inspire and Empower.”
East king culinary, a new bottega at 110 E. King St., will be an exhibitor at the show. The bottega previewed an opening at September’s First Friday. The bottega, which officially opened last night (Friday, 13 September), is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The east king culinary can be reached at 717-725-4184.
The show will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, 16 November and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, 17 November. The Lancaster County Convention Center is located at 25 South Queen Street, Lancaster PA 17603. Tickets are available online at PA Food & Wine. General admission is $20 online or $25 at the door.
A show of this magnitude normally requires many sponsors. The 2013 Pennsylvania Food & Wine Show is no different. Giant is the presenting sponsor. Other sponsors include PA Preferred, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Fine Wine & Good Spirits.
The Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square Hotel is offering a special rate for show attendees at $125/night plus tax. The hotel is located at 25 South Queen Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. The number is 717-239-1600.
