'Helix' season 2: Jordan Hayes previews Sarah's pregnancy, new location and more

"Helix" will return to Syfy for a second season, and while the cast may not know much about what's coming up next, we were able to get a few teases from them at San Diego Comic-Con. On Wednesday, Aug. 6, we uploaded our video interview from the press room roundtable with Jordan Hayes, who plays Dr. Sarah Jordan.

Season 2 starts 15 months after the explosion, and they'll be continuing that same one episode/one day format. What has changed, however, is the location because the last one was blown up. "We're definitely in a brand new setting, but it is going to be in the same kind of context of, not as isolated but it's definitely but much more dangerous and spookier this season," Hayes previewed. "There's a far larger nature component. We're actually in the wilderness this time, so that's going to bring in a lot of interesting plot points."

"It's still kind of the same show," the actress assured, promising there's still the core of CDC scientists, but with a few new characters added to the mix. "Then it's going to expand larger into the whole Ilaria Corporation."

What about Sarah's pregnancy? Hayes couldn't reveal much, but she did tease, "What I can say is that Sarah's pregnancy is going to be a very big plot point in season 2 and we'll get more information about it in the second episode." What about the father of that baby? "I think Alan and Jordan definitely have some things to work out. There's definitely still a baby in the mix and there's still lingering feelings underneath. …They're still confined to the professional workplace environment."

Sarah pushed her ethical limits as a doctor in season 1, and we will get to see more of that. "The limits are pushed even more" in season 2, she admitted. "I think especially now the fact that Sarah is immortal, she's a lot more reckless and she's definitely going to be pushing boundaries more than in season 1."
