Heliod, God of the Sun is one of the newest "Theros" spoilers revealed today Sept. 2, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set in an article by Mark Rosewater on DailyMTG.com.
Heliod, God of the Sun - 3W
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God (Mythic Rare)
As long as your devotion to white is less than five, Heliod isn't a creature (Each W in the mana costs of permanents you control counts toward your devotion to white.)
Other creatures you control have vigilance.
2WW: Put a 2/1 white Cleric enchantment creature token onto the battlefield.
Heliod, God of the Sun allows your creatures to pull double duty by being able to strike out on the offensive while still being able to block thanks to giving them vigilance. Heliod, God of the Sun can also summon a horde of 2/1 Clerics to aid you in battle. Given enough time, you'll amass an army large enough to overwhelm your opponent's defenses.
It won't be hard to acquire a devotion of five and make Heliod, God of the Sun into an impressive 5/6 creature. For just four mana, Heliod, God of the Sun is a steal. Oh yea, did we mention he's also Indestructible. What with being a god and all. Unless he becomes Cursed and turned into a pig. Not so mighty anymore.
How will you use Heliod, God of the Sun?
