Helen Mirren’s pink hair shocked fans when she showed up on the red carpet at the Feb. 10 British Academy Film Awards in London. According to a Feb. 10 PEOPLE report, Mirren’s new pink hair color puts her in with a rare group of stars including Dakota Fanning and Katy Perry that have rocked pink hair.
So what inspired Mirren’s new do. One would assume it was for a movie role, but no. “I saw it on America’s Next Top Model, so I decided to have a go,” Mirren, 67, told reporters.
Mirren was in it to have fun. The young at heart actress rocked her bold bright pink hair with its sassy pixie cut with her stunning Nicholas Oakwell Couture gown with floral embroidery. “I know I won’t win tonight,” she said of her best actress nomination for Hitchcock, “but I’m going to have lots of fun and celebrate anyway.”
While fans are used to seeing Mirren don some bold looks, no one would have thought Dame Mirren would be influenced by pink hair seen on a reality television show. At least now fans know that Mirren will always be full of stylish surprises on the red carpet and that's something to look forward to. This is her secret to staying young, fresh and in the spotlight – in a good way, especially when one adds her incredible talent.
