The 28th annual Film Independent Spirit Awards took place on Feb. 23, 2013, at the beach in Santa Monica, Calif. Here is what this Spirit Award winner said backstage in the Spirit Awards press room.

How does it feel to win this award?
It’s fantastic. I can’t believe the film got made, that somebody bought it, or that we were even invited. So I’m beaming.
You’ve also received an Oscar nomination for “The Sessions.” How are you preparing for the Oscars?
I will be eating breakfast and getting dressed. It’s very particular and on my own. I don’t have big plans, but I’m going to put a dress on.
Do you think you’re going to win at the Oscars this year?
No.
Which designer are you wearing right now?
I don’t know. I own it. It’s just my clothes.
How did you physically prepare for your nude scenes in “The Sessions”?
I got it three weeks before we started, so the whole “get a trainer,” that wasn’t an option, really. So I didn’t really do anything. I just showed up. I always stay in shape. I’m not taking [my clothes] off again. That was it, but it worked out.
