Ada-Borup's Megan Kolness scored 28 points to lead her team to a 60-32 interstate victory over Hatton-Northwood Tuesday in Hillsboro, ND.
Kolness, Ada-Borup's tallest player on its roster at 5 foot 9 inches, held her own down low against Hatton-Northwood's starting five in the paint, where all but one was taller.
Ada-Borup (5-1) out-rebounded Hatton-Northwood (4-1) by 2, 21-19, as limiting the Thunder's offensive rebound totals led to Cougar scores in transition.
"Megan and Taylor Kujava led our transition game well," Ada-Borup coach Dave Smart said. "We turned and looked up the court after boxing out well and took advantage of our quickness."
Ada-Borup plays win-less Mahnomen Tuesday, January 3 of the new year.
