Heidi Klum showcases fit physique in Marie Claire: Her diet and workout secrets

Supermodel Heidi Klum flaunts her sleek, gym-toned physique in the February 2013 issue of Marie Claire, where she discusses how discipline has made her healthy, happy and successful.

"[My mom] told me, 'Don't ever depend on a man,' " says Klum, who up at 6 a.m. and in bed by 9 p.m. every day. "So I started making a living for myself when I was 18."

Heidi's steely work ethic also extends to diet and exercise, which the 5-foot-9 German stunner credits for her sizzling bikini body.

In addition to running and strength-training, Klum avoids processed foods and makes sure her daily diet features plenty of fresh vegetables and home-cooked German meals.

The mom of four says her divorce from singer Seal made her appreciate all the more the importance of good health.

"Did I wish for this to happen to my family? No," says Heidi. "But everyone is healthy. We're moving on with our lives. If someone got [very sick], that would be a real problem. It's not what I wanted. It's not what anyone wanted, but it's not a real problem."

Heidi, who has no desire to remarry anytime soon, has a laid-back approach to aging despite having built a career on her good looks.

"I don't think of getting older as looking better or worse; it's just different," said Klum, 39. "You change, and that's OK. Life is about change.

"I don't have anxiety about it, so I'm not running to get Botox. Maybe that will change, but I don't think so. I feel comfortable in my skin and comfortable with aging, so I think it's OK that I get wrinkles."
