Last week America’s Got Talent judge Heidi Klum teamed up with Operation Shower and Babies “R” Us for a “Sweet Surprises” baby shower for 125 military moms-to-be. As a mother of four; Leni, 9, Henry, 8, Johan, 7, and Lou, 4. Heidi understands the importance of having support and feeling loved when with child, and she showered these lovely ladies with overwhelming excitement and gifts from her Babies “R” Us Truly Scrumptious collection.

It was a truly joyous event. Heidi relates to every mother and loves giving back. “I think that these women are all very important. They are all military moms or moms-to-be, and their husbands are far away. They don’t get to experience most of their pregnancies with their husbands, so I thought it was nice to put this event together for them to get together, share their stories, and hook them up, so that when the baby arrives they have a crib, a stroller, a diaper bag, lots of diapers and clothes, and everything. I thought it would be a nice gift for them, because their husbands do so much for us.”

Operation shower, a non-profit organization that shows appreciation and celebrates all the military families expecting while their spouse is far away, hosted the event. Their mission is to create memorable and amazing baby showers for expected mothers-to-be while their spouses are deployed.

Operation Shower started in March of 2007 when LeAnn Morrissey wanted to give more than a simple card to four expecting mothers. She wanted to give these women a sense of appreciation and love. It started with a “shower in a box” to the four military families that were to receive a card. “Shower in a box” was such an enormous success that it was only natural to expand this venture even further.

In June 2007, Morrissey teamed up with Kris Jackson amongst others and hosted the very “first unit-wide” baby shower in Ft. Bragg, NC thus birthing Operation Shower.

It’s six years later and Operation Shower has hosted over showers for over 1600 women and their families.

This year Heidi Klum participated in this incredible organization and considered they occasion a check off her bucket list.
