After leaked photos of some vacation cuddle time, weeks of internet speculation, and the quickly retracted allegations from ex-husband Seal that she was “fornicating with the help,” Heidi Klum has confirmed that the new man in her life is her former bodyguard Martin Kristen.
Heidi Klum, the retired Victoria’s Secret model and current host/judge/executive producer of “Project Runway,” was on Katie Couric Wednesday morning to tackle the speculation about her personal life head on.
“Being in all of the magazine and gossip pages,” Heidi Klum said to Katie Couric, “that is definitely very hard and hurtful — and it’s hard to go through a divorce.”
Seal and Heidi Klum announced their separation earlier this year. By Easter weekend Heidi Klum was in a courthouse filing her divorce papers. Since then there has been a great deal of media speculation as to what caused the end of a seemingly happy celebrity marriage.
While many celebrity tabloids mentioned Seal’s hard-partying ways and temper both the musician and Klum had remained quiet as to the cause of their split. When paparazzi with TMZ ambushed Seal in an airport after a long flight asking what he thought about Heidi Klum dating Martin Kristen, who had once worked as a bodyguard for the celebrity couple, Seal snapped back telling them they finally had the answer about why their marriage had ended. Within a day representatives for Seal backed away from his infidelity allegations.
In the Katie Couric interview Heidi Klum was overall dismissive of the scandal, saying “He has a very unique choice of words; I’m used to them.”
While on Katie Couric Heidi Klum did confirm her new relationship with Martin Kristen but maintained that it was a recent development and that she had never cheated on her husband.
“He’s a great man and recently we just got to know each other from a completely different side,” Klum said of her new boyfriend.
Unnamed sources close to the model have stated that the relationship began three months ago, well after the time that Klum and Seal had publicly announced their intentions to divorce. When asked about the seriousness of the relationship Heidi Klum dodged the question by telling Couric that she had no idea where it was going to go. In previous interviews Heidi Klum has said it is unlikely that she would marry again.
