John Cameron Mitchell’s rock 'n' roll and gender-bending musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” makes its way to Creative Alliance Oct. 21-22. Shows begin at 8pm.
Adam Cooley stars as the German and very bitter transgender rocker. While searching for fame and love, a sex change operation goes horribly wrong- leaving just an "angry inch".
"[Hedwig] reminds us that as much as we may be living in a T-shirt and baseball-cap world of macho men and jiggling babes, it is also a post-Freudian world of better living through surgery and chemistry, a place peopled with flexing drag kings and slithery she-males and everything in between… In such a climate the Hedwigs of this world are beginning to seem less like freaks and more like brave individualists mapping out an emerging frontier where boys can be girls and girls can be boys, and everyone has the freedom to couple however he or she chooses” said The New York Times.
