Hedgies

I have noticed a lot of people are falling in love with hedgehogs and owning hedgehogs as pets. They are cute, pokey and are definitely a conversation starter. They are low maintienance pets and they don't eat a lot of food either.

A hedgehog will only grow to be about 5 lbs so you can get any size cage you want. It all depends on how bad you want to spoil your baby. I have a rabbit hutch for mine and he is quite the happy camper.

They love wheels. If you buy a hedgehog a hamster wheel, it will benfit you both. It will provide you with entertainment, and it gives them a chance to exercise. Hedgehogs should be held and played with for a minumum 30 minutes a day. This way, they don't show aggression when they get older. They are nocturnal but if you get them when they are babies they can learn to be binurnal.

Hedgehogs eat dry cat food and freeze dried insects. You can also experiment and give them fruits and veggies to see if they like any types of varieties. They don't eat much food at all, only about a half cup a day. It is important that you don't over feed your hedgie or he won't be able to ball up properly.

With this being said, hedgehogs are an awesome pet to have. If you have love for adventure and you don't mind taking a risk, they are the perfect pet.
