“He’s so scared of aliens coming up and taking him,” Lombard told MMAjunkie. “You have to be really messed up to think about all that stuff. Like honestly, I have a lot of respect for him and the stuff he’s done for the sport, but how can you think about an alien coming and going to take you? Are you kidding me or what? It’s stupid.”
St-Pierre made headlines a few months back for saying on Joe Rogan's podcast that he believes he had an alien encounter.
'I can't say something happen to me," St-Pierre said on the podcast. 'I have no proof. I just don't know. But I'm going to tell you something and I'm going to be honest about it. Sometimes, I'm looking at the clock. And it's like I wake up and I look at the clock right after, and it's like the clock advance like four hours, or two hours. There's a time zone that I don't remember what happened. Or I can drive my car and it already happen. I drove my car in a normal day, going somewhere, and I look, and [two hours] passed. Two hour had just pass like this (snaps fingers). This is like a third-type encounter."
Perhaps St-Pierre really did have an alien encounter, or maybe he just took too many shots to the head. No one really knows for sure, but it seems likely that Lombard was simply trying to get himself some extra press with his verbal jab at St-Pierre.
After all, Lombard could be just a couple fights away from a shot at the UFC welterweight title.
“Up to this point, [St-Pierre] can do whatever he wants,” Lombard said. “He’s done a lot for the sport. There’s no point for me to go and criticize the man. What I do know is that I have to win my next fight and go from there.”
Before Lombard gets a shot at St-Pierre, he's hoping to take on Jake Shields.
“I think he’s been so boring and me always trying for the KO, it’s going to be exciting,” Lombard (33-4-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) said of Shields. “He’ll make it boring, or I’m going to end up knocking him out. It’s going to be one or another.”
