Hector Hernandez, of Inside Edge Real Estate in Colorado Springs, is an "ice skating dad" and also serves on the board of the Broadmoor Skating Club. His daughter began ice skating when she was three years old, and she is now a novice level skater who trains alongside elite figure skaters at the Colorado Springs World Arena Ice Hall.
Hernandez knows from experience that the Ice Hall attracts figure skaters from all over the world, and has made a commitment to help ice skating families who wish to relocate to Colorado Springs.
"I want to do all I can to help ice skating families who want to move to Colorado Springs for skating. I believe my experience as a figure skating dad and also my position as a board member with the Broadmoor Skating Club has put me in a special place. I know that it is quite overwhelming for families to consider moving for figure skating, and I may be the first skating friend a family makes before coming to our city to skate. They are making a huge decision."
Eighty percent of the skating families that come to Colorado Springs to skate wish to rent before buying a home. Although Inside Edge Real Estate does not usually handle rental inquiries, an exception is made for figure skating families. Hernandez has access to furnished and unfurnished rentals.
If a family is interested in purchasing a home, Hector Hernandez helps a skating family by getting them into a home that will work for all members of a family, and not just the skating child.
"In addition to understanding what a skating family is going through, I also am very aware of the huge financial commitment and sacrifice parents of figure skaters make. I can help a family understand what they might face financially and emotionally before a move is made."
