
Flash Flood Watch for portions of Western and Central Mississippi, this morning

The National Weather Service had issued a Flash Flood Watch until 7 am across portions of Western and Central Mississippi.
Heavy rain developed during the early morning hours, across portions of Western and Central Mississippi, with storms training or repeatly moving over the same areas, along a stalled out frontal boundary.
Several inches of rainfall fell across portions of Western and Central Mississippi, leading to flash flooding.
Flash Flood Warnings were issued this morning, across Northern and East Central Hinds, Southern and Northeastern Madison, Southern and Northwestern Leake, Southern and Eastern Yazoo, Northern Rankin, Southeastern and Northern Issaquena, Scott, Northern Warren , Sharkey, South Central Humphreys , Southwestern Attala, and extreme South Central Holmes Counties.
Flash flooding was reported across the Jackson Metro area this morning, with water reported up to the doors of cars on Keele Street in Jackson. Flooding was also reported on several other roads, including Ridgewood Road.

Flash flooding was reported across the Ridgeland area, this morning.
Several roads in Flora and Gluckstadt were reportedly under water, this morning. In Gluckstadt, a bridge was washed out after high water eroded away the bridge. (no injuries or car damage reported)
Flooding was reported along 5th street in Sharkey County, this morning.
Jackson, Vicksburg, Greenville, and Greenwood all broke daily rainfall records today and rain was continuing to mount this evening in some areas.

Other areas received 2-4 inches of rainfall today across Central Mississippi.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATEMENT:
ANOTHER AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAS DEVELOPED ACROSS THE WEST CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE FORECAST AREA AND WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL.
AT THIS TIME...AN AREA FROM BASTROP TO YAZOO CITY...AND WITH IN THE I-20 CORRIDOR SEEM TO BE THE PRIMARY AXIS FOR CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT TO OCCUR THROUGH SUNRISE.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS BETWEEN 1 AND 3 INCHES APPEAR LIKELY WITH MUCH HIGHER AMOUNTS NEAR 5 INCHES POSSIBLE AS STORMS MAY REPEATEDLY MOVE OVER THE SAME LOCATIONS.
DUE TO RECENT RAINS AND SATURATED SOIL CONDITIONS...FLASH FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH JUST A QUICK 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN.

BOLIVAR, SUNFLOWER, LEFLORE, GRENADA, CARROLL, MONTGOMERY, WASHINGTON, HUMPHREYS, HOLMES, ATTALA, ISSAQUENA, SHARKEY, YAZOO, MADISON, LEAKE, WARREN, HINDS, RANKIN, SCOTT, CLAIBORNE, COPIAH, SIMPSON, SMITH, WINSTON, NOXUBEE, NESHOBA, KEMPER, NEWTON, and LAUDERDALE
On Tuesday, a few storms became strong to severe in Eastern Mississippi. In Jefferson Davis County, 50 mph winds blew down several trees and numerous trees were blown down in Lauderdale County.
Portions of Oktibbeha and Clay Counties were placed under a tornado warning after a strong storm showed signs of rotation as it moved across the area. There was no report of tornado touchdown in the area, but the skies were ominous as the storms pushed into Oktibbeha County.
