Heavy rain continues today, flood watches in effect

Low pressure over northern Ohio this morning will move into Ontario this afternoon, dragging a cold front eastward across our area. Deep moisture will remain in place across northeastern Ohio today, providing support for rain along with a few thunderstorms. Rainfall could be heavy and the entire area remains under a flood watch.

The deepest moisture will shift east of the area tonight, and the showers will gradually diminish from west to east. Most area will see a break in the activity after midnight.

On Friday, a large upper level trough will settle southeastward across the Great Lakes and into the Ohio Valley. We may start the day with a little sunshine, but as temperatures aloft cool, clouds will build and a few showers are expected to develop during the afternoon. Friday will be much cooler under the influence of the upper trough.

Friday night and Saturday will be mostly cloudy and unsettled with scattered showers likely as the upper trough remains overhead.

Here is the forecast: For today, it will be cloudy with rain likely along with a few embedded thunderstorms. Highs will be near 70 degrees. Winds S 10-20 mph.

Tonight, cloudy with showers likely, mainly this evening.. Lows will be in the low 40s. Winds SW 10-15 mph.

Friday, mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Highs will be near 60. Winds NW 5-10 mph.

Friday night, mostly cloudy with showers likely. Lows will be around 40.

Saturday, mostly cloudy with showers likely. Highs will be in the mid to upper 50s.

Extended Analysis: A large upper level trough over the area Sunday will gradually begin to lift our. At the surface, high pressure will build across the area. Any lingering showers will end Saturday night, with partly sunny skies expected on Sunday. There will still be a slight chance of a pop up shower on Sunday as the temperatures aloft will still be rather cool.

High pressure is forecast build across our area Monday and Tuesday providing us with dry conditions along with gradually moderating temperatures.
