This Thursday night is the official beginning to the weekend and the legendary Star Bar will be the place to unleash your pent up frustrations from yet another torrid work week. Jam your ears full of high octane music while you imbibe in a wide selection of spirits.
With a plethora of musicians hitting the stage after the storied doors are thrust open around 9pm, it will be local bad asses Heavy Mojo dishing out a mix of hip-hop and rock that will have the packed house jacked. Mojo is a one of a kind entity as Stone, B-Dirty and Priest dish out the lyrics with their live band lead by Jeremy Avalon and DigGost deliver music loaded with enough funk, rock and punk to satisfy any music purveyor. Live and in person is the best way to experience Mojo’s music, they cultivate a punk rock environment and the energy they exude leaves the crowd almost as exhausted as they are. In the intimate room at the Star Bar their tunes will be bouncing off the walls and into listener’s ear holes late into the evening.
Sharing the stage with Heavy Mojo is a trio of bands that offer up a wide variety of music. Scale Model will trek in from Nashville with a collection of tunes that offer up pop flavored melodies and drum beats that walks a thin line between 80’s new wave and modern indie rock. A group of veteran musicians have assembled to create The Greater Vavoom and will be dishing out tunes loaded with electronic funk. Their music will get the crowd moving. Rounding out the night will be Atlanta’s Blackfox. With a blues infused haunting country sound their music sounds like it came right out of an episode of True Detective.
Thursday night’s festivities are yet another reason to spend a little time at Star Bar. The bands playing each offer something different yet have enough similarities that the music will complement each other brilliantly. Get there early because I have a feeling this is going to be a crowded night. If you see me there say hi.
