R&B Artist Kem, recorded a song a few years ago on his “Album II” record titled “Heaven.” It’s a beautiful and profound love song with a powerful spiritual message about love. He sings about spending a lifetime searching for heaven and only to find that heaven resides in the woman he loves. In essence that holds true for us all. The bible states in Luke 17:21 (KJV), “The kingdom of heaven is within you”; in other words, heaven resides in all of us and is available to us during our lifetime.
Those who believe there is a heaven outside of us and above us, often spend a lifetime choosing to live in pain and despair, waiting for a “better afterlife” in a physical place instead of creating a better life while they're still breathing. Perhaps, there is a heavenly place our souls go when we make our transition. And perhaps the more peace and joy we choose to live here on earth, the more peace and joy we have for an eternity. It just appears true to me that living a joyful life, sets the tone for an even glorious afterlife.
Although, until we get there, we live in the “here and now” and I believe our lives were given to us to be a heavenly journey; that is, if we perceive it to be, believe it to be and choose for it to be, no matter what forms of "hell" we may encounter along the way. It's true, some of us have life experiences that are easier to handle than others and others have been given a life that only they can handle.
No matter how similar our collective lives may appear, each of us have been given unique and divinely ordered life experiences. Even, the way we experience joy, peace and happiness is unique to us. The commonality is that we are all entitled to and equipped to have joy, peace and happiness; it’s up to each individual person who lives; to navigate their unique paths with confidence, an open mind, an open heart and a knowing that, “this is all I have to do, it is enough and I am enough.” There really is no one to prove otherwise, compete with or defeat, only to offer support, be supported and ultimately love and be loved.
Imagine a life without pain and fear. Imagine living that life now, not tomorrow, not next week, next year or in the afterlife. So if you've been searching and waiting for heaven, imagine heaven is in you, today and simply choose to live with a renewed and reignited sense of joy, peace and happiness.
