Heath seminar and art exhibit tonight in Palmdale

Kids Charities of the Antelope Valley is offering free healthy seminar so that residents can make 2013 “The Healthiest and Fittest Year Ever.”

The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. tonight, February 7, 2013 at Just1 Fitness & Performance Chiropractic.

Scheduled speakers include health and lifestyle coach Dexter Bowen; Dr. Colin Ross, doctor of preventive medicine; Dr. Rick Duenas; and Dr. Ruwanthi Compano.

Just for registering attendees can receive $150 in free health and fitness gifts and be entered to win up to $2,000 in health and fitness prizes.

This is a fundraiser for Kids Charities and a $10 donation can be made at the door. For more information call Dexter Bowen at (888) 618-1174.

“Legacy of Art II” Exhibit Coming to Palmdale Playhouse

The Palmdale Playhouse will host a free grand opening reception for its latest art exhibit entitled “Legacy of Art II” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Playhouse, located at 38334 10th St. East in Palmdale.

The exhibit is the second in a series that features the works of the visual arts group that meets at Legacy Commons for Active Seniors every Friday from 9 to 11 am.

Among the artists who will have works on display are Karol Allen, June Brown, Nhi Camp, Poli Fontilara, Juanita McWilliams, Debra Schneider, Mike Schneider and Cathy Van Zandt.

“The visual artists at Legacy Commons meet every Friday under the direction of Debra Schneider, and are very excited to have their works on display once again for people to see and enjoy,” said Recreation Coordinator Jennifer Tallakson. “Their work presents a variety or art media featuring watercolors, oils, and acrylics with landscapes, flowers, portraits and more.”
